Description Movement is a phenomenon of life and a basic aspect of live organisms. There would be no life without movement. Society realizes the importance of movement as a means of health of men and thus adapts the life conditions and the environment as well. Despite these attempts not enough attention is focused on sport in people with special needs and the handicapped. Many handicapped do not feel safe in water environment, cannot relax their body and therefore, a stay in a swimming pool may become a distress experience. Too much care of the assistants causes convulsiveness, which makes the unpleasant feelings grow and hardly removable psychic blocks may appear. At the Faculty of Sports Studies in Brno research is conducted on how psychical experiences and states of people with physical handicap are related to application of the Halliwick Swimming Concept. This paper presents some of the partial results of this inquiry.
