Description At present air transport in the world and thus in Central Europe too shows a strong dynamism. The changes in its availability in Central Europe after 2000 can be attributed to the activities of low-cost airlines who entered the market as a result of deregulation. The aim of the paper is a theoretical analysis of the low-cost phenomenon on one hand and a brief analysis of low-cost activities in Central Europe on the other. The region analysed includes the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Austria and Hungary.
