The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, Masaryk University, invites applications for the following position:

Assistant Professor in Finance

Masaryk University, Faculty of Economics and Administration, is looking for a highly motivated and productive Assistant Professor in the field of financial management and financial markets. The position is initially funded for 3 years, after this time the contract might be extended. Applicants should have completed or nearing the completion of their PhD studies in Finance.

We are looking for:

  • a full-time assistant professor (1 FTE)background in relevant research methods,
  • experience in teaching university-level courses (thesis supervision is an advantage),
  • publication potential in leading scientific journals,
  • good command of the Czech and English language.

What does the position entail?

  • teaching Financial Management and Financial Markets courses in Czech and English,
  • participation in the state final examination committees in Czech and English,
  • supervising final theses in Czech and English,
  • active collaboration with other members of the department,
  • design research projects and prepare submission of grant proposals,
  • conduct your own research,
  • publish research in leading finance journals.

What do we offer?

The Department of Finance offers undergraduate and graduate courses in all areas of finance and accounting. The department aims to carry out research published in internationally distinguished journals and through presentations at top conferences. Faculty members conduct research in financial risk analysis and management, portfolio optimization and financial network analysis. The adjacent area of research focus is financial technologies and artificial intelligence in finance. The department provides a supportive research environment and any required facilities.

  • overview of teaching practice,
  • a motivation letter together with a vision of your own work in the department,
  • copies of evidence of qualifications,
  • a job market paper or recent publication,
  • names and contact details of at least three referees that will provide recommendation letters upon request or a list of current international collaborations (names, institutions, type of collaboration) with a focus on collaborations with highly ranked universities.
