Jiří Hlušička

The Bohdan Lacina monograph conveys, in text and picture, the artist’s journey and the solitary position he held in Czech art; it notes the features that defined his personality and shaped his life story. Lacina’s teaching, for which he is remembered by a host of his former students, is also mentioned. The book, marking the hundredth anniversary of the artist’s birth, is published by Masaryk University, Brno, where Bohdan Lacina spent the final years of his life as a professor in the Department of Art History and Teaching.
The author of the monograph, Jiří Hlušička, is a recognized expert in Czech fine art. He has spent a lot of time studying Lacina’s work and he was also Lacina’s friend.
