Beer is very popular nowadays and many people find that it is a very varied drink with a rich history. Where can we find the origins of today's beer variety that makes beer such an attractive drink? This lecture will reflect on the history of beer production in Europe and North America, primarily since the 19th century, with a brief look at earlier times. The different beer styles, their origins, and the reasons for their worldwide spread, both during the early days of globalization and in today's wave of the craft beer revolution, will be presented.
