| Description | The paper deals with the reflection of the journalist profession seen from the perspective of the journalists who worked for the "Lidové noviny", "Venkov" and "Národní práce" dailies in 1939 – 1945. Over this period, both in-house and external authors of editorials and glosses focused on not only the tasks and duties of journalists in relation to the individual and the national entity, but also – in a more or less covert form – societal and moral limits arising from a questionable journalists position and role, since they were bound by the loyalty to their employers, to the occupational and Protectorate authorities, as well as to their readers to some extent. The contradictions brought by this dilemmatic position oscillating, at the utmost points, between passive resistance and collaboration is reflected on the pages of the selected print media over the whole period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. |
