| Description | The chapter deals with functions which the beauty itself has in some Plato's dialogues. The functions ascribed to the beauty in Hippias Maior are compared with functions of beauty in Phaedrus and in Symposium. It is stated that the functions of beauty in Hippias Maior resemble functions ascribed to ideas in Phaedo and Parmenides, though the ontological status of beauty in the Hippias Maior is not so clear as the status of the ideas in the dialogues mentioned. |
