| Description | The role of orchid mycorrhizal symbiosis and the enhanced availability of N nutrients in the competition between Serapias lingua and Plantago lanceolata was studied. Upon simulated eutrofication, the growth of S. lingua in monoculture was enhanced, but if co-cultivated with P. lanceolata it was lowered. The results suggest that the effect of eutrofication on the growth of orchids is in direct, mediated by enhanced growth of fastly growing competitors. |
