Description In the Mozarabic Chronicle of 754, there are ablatives of the gerund that can be interpreted as anterior to the main predicate. Aspectual characteristics and context are considered to be the main factors for the previous interpretation. The use of the anterior ablative of the gerund gives evidence of the approximation between the present participle and the ablative of the gerund in Late Latin. The anterior ablative of the gerund, however, does not seem to be frequently used in contemporary texts.
