Description The paper answers the question what role visuals for teaching culture have in current German language textbooks used in Czech lower secondary schools. The topics is approached from two perspectives. Firstly, based on the results of a textbook analysis it is described which contents and functions can be identified in the textbooks. Secondly, these results are compared with views of the interviewed teachers concernig desired characteristics of visuals for teaching culture.
