Description Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a very serious disease, both medically and socially. It is estimated that MS affects more than 2.5 million people worldwide, and is the leading cause of neurological disability among young adults. One particularly outstanding question challenges investigators: why does it affect only certain individuals and, like other autoimmune diseases, more often women? It has been established that genetic predisposition and environmental factors play important role in susceptibility to MS.
