| Description | This research was primarily conducted based on a collection of semi-structured interviews with diabetics and their physicians, and was dedicated to tracking how people with diabetes negotiate their treatment and what strategy is chosen in the choice of treatment methods of their disease and the prevention of (and subsequent treatmeant of) late complications of diabetes. In addition to the monitoring of diabetics and their negotiated treatment, the goal of this research is also an attempt to find regulatory mechanics of creating boundaries between conventional and alternative medicine. However, I am of the opinion that it isn ot possible to talk about alternative and conventional medicine and two different categories among which is a fixed boundary, but it is better to talk about them as areas that are constantly changing and intertwined. The line between official and unofficial medicine is very flexible and is repeatedly redifined because it is constantly exposed to increasing criticism of the biomedical model. |
