| Description | The peaceful settlement of disputes utilizing permanent international court is the last step in the development of the means of peaceful settlement of international disputes. Its predecessor was international arbitration. However, international arbitration was not superseded by the existence of permanent international courts but it is still utilized by the international actors. Therefore, these two methods are influencing each other not only in the level of procedural rules. The parallel existence of these two dispute settlement methods caused that the dispute or its aspects and stages can be dealt by both arbitration tribunal and the International Court of Justice. This fact allowed International Court of Justice to deal with the questions of the establishment and the role of the arbitration tribunal and its members. These decisions consequently influenced the evolution of the procedures of international arbitration. |
