| Description | The article maps the development of the concept of atomic structure. Starting from the primary speculations inspired by some atomic displays (emission and absorption of light by atoms, variety and periodicity of their chemical properties) the gradually modified idea of atomic structure is followed via decisive influence of the discovery of electron to the first (electronic) models of atoms. The survey spans the period from the middle of the 19th century till the Bohr approach to the problem. |
