Description The aim of our contribution is to evaluate the influence of specific doses of caffeine on maximum maximal power output (MPO) in two groups of athletes - professional and amateur cyclists. The measured data (coming from a specific research of caffeine ongoing in 2012 and 2013 at the Faculty of Sports Studies) demonstrated a significant increase in the maximum power achieved only by a group of amateur cyclists. Further increasing trend was observed MPO depending on the dose. It can be assumed that with increasing doses of caffeine would be achieved even higher MPO. It is clear, however, that the level of fitness is superior to the effect of caffeine - especially for professional cyclists.
