Description Drug addiction and depression is the most common comorbidity, especially in case of secondary drug addiction of patients with depression. High comorbidity in population (30-50 %) may reflect shared neurobiogical abnormalities, aberrant neuroadaptation to acute drug effect leading to neurochemical changes, which have common elements with abnormalities connected to depression. Article presents review of neurobiological background of drug addiction and depression focused on amfetamine-like psychostimulants.
