Description The goal of this article is to highlight specific challenges associated with the manipulation of contaminated bodies. This issue has been discussed with experts from The State Office for Nuclear Safety and Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. Contamination of human remains can be caused by radiation, poison or infection. Exposure to radiation can be due to medical procedures, nuclear and radiation accidents, or nuclear weapons. Contamination caused by chemical weapons is a risk for members of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, but also for civilians in the event of war or terrorist attack. Infectious diseases, such as hepatitis B and C, HIV, tuberculosis etc., are seen regularly in the autopsy room. Infectious substances such as anthrax can also be used for bio-terrorism or spread accidentally from specialized laboratories. Therefore, it is necessary for the Forensic Medicine Departments’ staff to know how to deal with these dangerous scenarios.
