| Description | This publication deals with German-Moravian museum work. In the text it is perceived as a specific conglomerate of museum institutions in Moravia, which were from the late nineteenth century until the middle of the following century managed and which activities were led by people claiming allegiance to German language and culture. Its main objective is to analyze comprehensively the now non-existent, yet in many respects still present cultural phenomenon, which in many ways has been followed by many of today’s cultural institutions. In addition to the general characteristics it tries to describe the factors which substantially and significantly shaped German museum activities in Moravia, while trying to present forms of impact it had on society. Although primarily historical methods have been used to learn about individual facts, in which comparison and content analysis of extant data have been playing dominant role, the author puts them into context of terminology (musealization, museum phenomenon, selection, thesauration, presentation etc.) and procedures currently applied in the field of museology. |
