Description The book analyses the fourth direct Slovak presidential elections that took place in March 2014. The elections were unique in several respects. For the first time, the sitting Prime Minister ran for presidency; moreover, it was the Prime Minister presiding over a single party majority government who participated in the election. The number of presidential candidates was higher than in any previous presidential elections. Unlike the previous contests, a representative of the largest ethnic (Hungarian) majority in Slovakia ran for office. And finally, the candidate with no previous political experience with elected office came out on top and became the president. The book studies various aspects of the presidential election including topics as the description of candidates, the campaign or a detailed analysis of the results.
