| Description | The contribution analyses the political discourse surrounding the privatisation of transit gas pipelines in the Czech Republic. A qualitative method (analysis of the discourse) and a quantitative method (analysis of the content) were employed for the analysis, which covered the executive's decisions, the election programmes of the parties elected to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, and data gathered from the printed media (i. e. from ČTK). The theoretical basis was the securitisation concept espoused by the Copenhagen school of security studies. No affirmative answer to the research question (Did political elites use security topics for ligitimising the privatisation of transit gas pipelines?) was found, because no security topic appeared in the discourse. The topics were politicised at most, and only rarely at that. |
