Description Within this article we describe and assess advantages and disadvantages of the most well known quantitative methods used for substantive review of mergers. For the better understanding of these various methods we analyze at first preconditions for their application in specific cases and markets. Application of quantitative techniques are further analyzed generally with regard to their impact on evolution of competition law and policy and particularly according to their various types from economic ratio behind them, their difficulty and usability in antitrust practice. We conclude with assessment of quantitative methods application within merger review by the Office for the protection of competition.
