Description The scientific paper presents the results of the economic analysis of the needs of basic food types for the inhabitants of the Czech Republic. The performed analysis is based on the calculation of the fulfilment of energy intake per person per day. The population was divided by sex and age to determine the energy value of food intake through the use of basic food types. The observed data can serve as a basis to determine the level of food self-sufficiency in our country and as a basis for assessing the food security of the Czech Republic.
