| Description | In this paper, we focus our study on the steam engine history. We describe the circumstances in which steam engines stimulated the emergence of the science of thermodynamics, which together with mechanics form the basis of modern physics. It is shown the growing importance of technology for industry during the 18th and 19th centuries, how the needs of industry have stimulated the development of science, and finally how the science has begun to contribute to the development of technology and industry. In the paper we explain the technical details and present persons who played the key role in the invention and development of steam engines. |
