Description A research probe was carried out to map out leisure time, benefits and risks associated with modern information and communication technologies. Using an anonymous questionnaire of 20 entries, a sample of 150 first degree pupils from two intentionally selected primary schools in the North Moravian region was approached. Half of children spend their free time at the computer, a third on social networks. Although there is a clear desire for respondents to stay outdoors, one third only enters compulsory school at physical education. Three quarters of the sample have access to the Internet at home, 90% of the population being interviewed is not in any way limited to potentially risky content. Only half of the parents are watching what websites their children visit, the question of computer security is greatly underestimated.
