| Description | The collection of short-stories Histórias Castelhanas (1955) belongs to the best of Domingos Monteiro (1903-1980). All stories are situated in Castile (Spain) and, regarding this regional aspect, are peopled not only by well depicted characters, but also by voices of well-known Spanish poets and writers. The aim of this paper is to analyse the short-story “As Terras de Alvargonzález”, based on the homonymous poem by Antonio Machado, focusing on weird motifs such as symbolic nature elements and the presence of a ghost. |
