| Description | The paper concerns the principle in claris non fit interpretatio and its role in the current international law. The main claim made in the paper is that the condemnation of the maxim in claris non fit interpretatio as being theoretically unfounded was rather premature. this maxim may play a role also in the contemporary international law. Its role is, it is argued, that it reiterates the importance of the natural, plain, meaning of the words in interpreting international treaties. |
