Description The goal of this paper is to shed light on the connection between national culture, operationalized using Hofstede’s dimensions, and individual mindfulness. We obtain data about individual mindfulness levels from published peer reviewed studies to find correlations between values of individual mindfulness and values of Hofstede’s dimensions for a variety of cultures. We found that the dimensions of Individualism and Power distance show a relatively strong correlation, with other dimensions showing weak or no correlation at all. In this way we hope to contribute to knowledge concerning the connection between national culture and individual mindfulness, a topic which remains underexplored and which has caught the attention of mindfulness researchers. Additionally, organizational practice may benefit from the contributions that this paper makes regarding the question of individual mindfulness development, i.e. the suggestions that individuals in some cultures may have an easier time developing mindfulness.
