| Description | The lecture was dedicated to the development of classical japanese theatre genre - kabuki - in moder era - from the yar 1868 to the present. Its aim was to disprove common stereotypical perception of kabuki as hundreds years old "traditional" theatre form and to suggest the term "classical" due to the continual development and the endeavour to react to contemporary trends. The lecture also presented contemporary academic debate about when kabuki became "classical" and by what means it happened. |
