Description This article reflects on how curriculum reform has affected and continues to affect teachers’, headteachers’ and other education professionals’ perceptions and utilization of curriculum documents in schools. A review of the literature reveals teachers’ and headteachers’ increasingly negative perceptions of curriculum reform since it was first implemented. This is also evident from the way in which they utilize the new curriculum documents in practice. Therefore, while the current revision of FEPs is in many ways convenient, it is also a sensitive issue. In implementing a new curriculum, it is necessary to consider the attitudes of teachers, headteachers and other stakeholders.
