| Description | Constitutional officials can influence the economic policy of the whole country more or less by their decisions. The degree of their influence is related to their appointment powers. In our case, the text deals with the powers of the President of the Republic to appoint the management of major economic institutions - the Czech National Bank and the Supreme Audit Office. These powers were the subject of a legal and political dispute between President Václav Havel and the representatives of the government and the Chamber of Deputies. The outcome of the dispute significantly strengthened the position of the President of the Republic in the field of economic policy. |
