Description | The Loosdorf domain with the Hagendorf farmstead in Lower Austria was the first place where Johann (I.) Joseph, Prince of Liechtenstein, carried out his building, landscaping, and farming activities. The castle was rebuilt, probably based on the design of the architect Ben edikt Henrici. An English park was established that was later replaced with a natural landscape park after the design of Bernhard Petri, the director of princely estates. Moreover, voluptuary structures were erected: Hanselburg and presently missing hermitage, a charcoal burner’s hut, and Diana’s temple. The medieval castle in the nearby town of Laa an der Thaya) was also renovated. |
