Description In the European environment, jewelry has become an essential part of aristocratic and bourgeois clothing, and it can be assumed that the desire for a special appearance penetrated into the lower social classes. However, the absence of written, pictorial and material sources for older periods does not allow us to reconstruct the continuous development of clothing and decoration of the rural population, we can observe it only from the second half of the 18th century. Similar simple ornaments were the work of tailors, blacksmiths, plumbers and shepherds and were intended for the local community, so they had the character of real folk jewelry. However, other accessories and jewelry were bought at fairs and pilgrimages, or from door-to-door merchants offering haberdashery, and later in town shops. We include these products in the category of popular art, and factory production shows the character of mass culture products, which have the same features in urban and rural environments.
