Description The correct identification of minerals (especially those that are very small or difficult to distinguish) is a much-discussed topic, and in many cases mere observation or study with a stereomicroscope will not suffice. Thus, there is the possibility of chemical or X-ray diffraction laboratory analyses, however it is usually a complex and expensive process with the necessary destruction of part of the sample on the specimen. A specific exception is Raman spectroscopy, which combines the advantages of the non-destructive method of analysis with the ease of use. Scientific Raman spectrometers are nowadays a common equipment of mineralogical workplaces of geological institutions, but they are expensive and large instruments, which must be placed to a separate room. However, there are also cheaper and portable variants, but unlike the laboratory ones, they do not provide such high-quality output data in sufficient resolution.
