| Description | The lecture focused on the roots and the beginnings and development of the early cult of martyrs in Late Antiquity. Based on architectural and pictorial evidence, the presentation showed to what extent the new phenomenon - destroying the ancient Roman taboo of dealing with the dead body - was formative of a new Christian culture and also how it served as an instrument of Christianization. |
