| Description | The use of donor gametes has become an essential part of assisted reproduction. However, the ethical and legal issues associated with this method of involving third parties in the reproductive process are still debated. One of these is the tendency to commercialise the whole process, whereby large sums of money are provided to donors of gametes on a reward basis, in addition to other benefits. My intention will be to show that the same situation also prevails in the Czech Republic, where the legal rules for the provision of reimbursement of expenses related to the donation of eggs and sperm are set up in a completely vague manner, which leads to their arbitrary shaping through the practice of reproductive clinics, both in contradiction to human dignity and the universally recognized and legally enshrined requirement of solidarity and altruism. |
