Description The chapter is devoted to a long period in the history of the Prague and Olomouc bishoprics - from the beginnings of the Hussite movement to the epoch of the European Reformation. The author traces particularly the fate of the Prague archbishopric: from the first conflicts between the archbishops and the followers of Wycliffe's doctrine, through the outbreak of the Hussite Revolution and the conversion of Archbishop Konrad to Hussitism, the long period of administration, to the restoration of the archbishopric under Ferdinand I. Particular emphasis is placed on the relationship of Catholics and Utraquists to the institution of the archiepiscopate and the interconnection of the plans for the occupation of the archbishopric with the question of papal recognition of the Basel Compacts. The situation in the Prague archbishopric is systematically compared with the development of the Olomouc bishopric.
