| Description | Despite growing scholarly interest in radical nationalism and fascism, there's a notable gap in exploring the connections between these ideologies in Europe and East Asia. This neglect is significant, considering the global resurgence of authoritarianism and the rise of right-wing populist parties. European radical nationalist parties, characterized by nativism and authoritarianism, raise questions about similar trends in East Asia. Historically, fascism and radical nationalism have been viewed mainly within national contexts, overlooking their transnational nature. This conference aims to bridge this gap by fostering an interdisciplinary discussion on the origins, nature, ideology, and manifestations of fascism and radical nationalism in East Asia, including their transnational links with European movements. Keynote speakers include Professor Roger Griffin and Professor Peter Gries, focusing on themes like economic policy and ideological transfers. |
