Description Phototoxic dermatitis is an acute, non-infectious inflammation of the skin, arising as a result of exposure to radiation and drugs or chemicals. It is characterized by redness, blisters and blisters in places exposed to UV radiation or visible light (general phototoxic reaction) or in places exposed to radiation to which substances of a chemical nature have previously been topically applied (local phototoxic reaction). Clinically, it is a more severe form of sunburn. Phytophotodermatitis is a type of topical phytotoxic dermatitis that occurs after exposure to photosensitizing chemicals contained in certain plants and subsequent exposure to UV radiation. It is a fairly common dermatitis, most common in spring and summer, it appears at any age. It typically affects people who work with photosensitizing plants - gardeners, greengrocers. In our case report, we describe the case of a 54-year-old woman who was first examined at our dermatology clinic in July 2023 for severe erythema with swelling and confluent blisters or bullae in the palms, rarely also on the backs of the hands and between the fingers. The skin manifestations arose after a stay in the garden where she transplanted plants (golden marguerite, Yarrow, St. John's wort). The patient was hospitalized for a significant skin reaction. Therapy introduced during hospitalization - i.v. corticotherapy, antihistamines and local external with effect.
