Description In this paper, results of physiological, genetical and molecular analysis of flowering time in Arabidopsis thaliana are summarized. The successful sexual reproduction depends on the ability of flowering in plants and therefore the transition from vegetative to reproductive development is vitally important. The switch point for this transition is controlled by both environmental and endogenous factors (genotype). Natural late flowering ecotypes and late flowering mutants are used in these analyses. The influence of day-length, vernalization and DNA demethylation on the genes for the flowering time was studied. Obtained results of the regulation pathways for the flowering time let to more precise knowledge of the pathways.
