Description The case of a female patient with conversion scoliosis, with severe pain and antalgic posture, is described. Surgery for herniated disks in L4-5 and L5-S1 regions resulted only in a short-time relief, at 24 years. At age 28 years, she was admitted to our department. Psychological examination revealed traumatic emotional experience. Psychotherapy, including congitive behavioral treatment, hypnotherapy and audiovisual stimulation, markedly improved the patient s mental and somatic state
