Description The Internet has significantly influenced the ways of presenting and consuming sexual content. Cybersex is defined as erotically suggestive or explicit messages and sexual fantasies that are exchanged via the Internet. Masturbation usually forms part of cybersex. The factors that facilitate online sexuality are accessibility, affordability and anonymity of the Internet. Motives that lead individuals to cybersex are often unconscious. Research conducted in 2003 among Czech users revealed some of the needs that motivate people to cybersex. It is: desire for sexual satisfaction, desire for knowledge, desire to be oneself, desire for a break, desire to be wanted, desire to find a partner for real sex, excitement stemming from anonymity and from interaction. It should be noted that these needs are not always mutually exclusive. Research also revealed that cybersexual activities are perceived differently, even among the users themselves and that cybersex has certain advantages compared to real sex for some consumers. The excessive consumption of cybersex can turn in pathological behaviour with the symptoms of the addiction. Key words: Internet, Chat, communication, sex, pornography, cybersex, masturbation, sexual fantasy, women and men, motivation, need, desire, cybersex addiction, cybersex user typology
