| Description | The article deals with approaches towards standard vs substandard means of expression as presented in modern Czech theories of style. Almost from the very beginning of modern Czech stylistics (ie from the early 20th century) there appears to be a tendency to characterize substandard means of expressions as an element that may be at least in some types of communication relevant from the viewpoint of stylistics; possibilities for further research are also indicated. |
