Description The author is concerned with an intracapsular therapy of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) at chronic close lock. Twenty patients who underwent the visual arthroscopic lavage were evaluated from the point of view of mouth opening extent and pain severity. The evaluation was caried out at least two weeks, and then three and six months after performing the arthroscopic lavage. Six months after the lavage general improvement of the state was recorded in 70% of patients (mouth opening more than 30mm in the inter-incisal distance, either no or minimum pain).
