Description This study is focused on the populational differences in the expression of proteins in the hemolymph of Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata). For experiment the descendants of different females (18) were raised in lab conditions and the hemolymph was collected from the five day old adults. Sodium dodecyl sulphate - polyacrylamide gradient gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGGE) was used to determine the hemolymph protein profiles. The protein composition was investigated and approximately 25 high and low molecular weight proteins were found. In addition to well-defined protein fractions such as lipophorins (202 and 70 kDa) and diapause (storage) protein (90 kDa), some undetermined protein fractions varying from 14 - 200 kDa were also detected. Sexual dimorphism, which was described previously, was not observed. Our results show that there is a big variability in the hemolymph protein expression among the offspring of the same female as well as between the offspring of different females for both sexes.
