Description The comunication presents the results of determinations of the following physico-chemical parameters: pH reaction, temperature, electrolytic conductivity, colour, basicity, total solids, total dissolved solids, total organic carbon, Cl, SO4, F, PO4, NO3, NH4, Na, K, Ca, Mg, CaCO3, Fe, Mn, Cd, Cu, Cr, Ni, Pb, Zn, Al, Ag, Ba, Be, Li, Mo, Tl, V, Hg, Ce, Cs, La, Nd, Pr and Sm in groundwater of the Neogene layer in Poznan city. The water plays an important supplementary role in providing drinking and industrial water to residents, industrial plants, service establishments and public institutions located in some peripheral parts of the city where the Miocene level is used as the principal water-bearing horizon. Years of exploitation have produced a change in the hydrochemical zonality of the aquifers. Ascent of saline groundwater from the Mesozoic layer has been observed locally as well as a horizontal shift of a stream of coloured water within the Miocene level, which has ultimately led to the closing of some groundwater uptake in the city area.
