Description Present postmodern euroamerican society stresses an importance of individual and his/her personal qualities. Dilemma to help or to control (or both) belongs to the basic dilemmas of modern social work (Navrátil) and fucuses social worker and user of social services as well to the roots of social work itself. Logotherapy and existential analysis (LTEA) and systemic therapy as approaches oriented in the therapeutic sense of help (supporting development of the personal potential) offer help to their clients (individuals, but also groups) by the different way. LTEA heps firstly non directive with the stress on freedom and responsibility of man; systemic therapy stresses the ability of the client to lose his/her problem by him/herself. The aim of this contribution is to answer research question: Which role plays in LTEA and systemic therapy help and control and how is possible this role generalize for social work in general?
