Description The proposed study is devoted to the problems of self-reliance and creativity development of the pupils at the elementary schools. However, it is utilizable at the high schools and colleges as well. Especially the basic principles of students creativity development are applicable to any subject of the curriculum. After the introduction, in which the chosen theme is defended, follows the first chapter which is concerned with the history of creativity investigation. In the second chapter the subject of interest is the psychological foundation of self-reliance and pupils creativity. The author focuses on the definition of the problem from various viewpoints, analyzes them and takes his own stand. There are other issues dealt with: foundation of creativity, structural elements of creativity, identification of creativity, social background and creativity, and relation between talent and creativity. In the third chapter, the author solves questions which are related to the objective and subjective conditions of the creative process and the questions of the creative activity barriers as a counterpart of the former. The forth chapter is devoted to the questions of creative teaching. The closest attention is paid to the teaching methods of independent development and creative work of the pupils. The main aim of the author was to monitor the newest knowledge in this area and deliver his standpoint to the so far described methods which can lead to the creativity development of the students. The fifth chapter provides the reader with a concrete example of creative lessons in the form of actual outlined written preparations for maths, physics, and practical activities in the second cycle of the elementary school. The examples described may be inspiring for the teachers of other subjects at the elementary and high schools. The sixth chapter is a short reflection on the question of creative schooling. The author observes that there is not enough convenient background for the creative teaching object fulfillment in our elementary and high schools. The key factor is that the pedagogues are overburdened with many duties which prevent them from devoting their time to the education in this area and preparation and realization of the development of pupils creativity in a more complex and focused form. If we had studied this area more closely we would have surely found many exceptions. However, the above mentioned problems do not contribute to this fact. The underway curriculum reform and the introduction of general educational programs for the elementary and high schools in which the demands for developments of active, self-reliant and creative activities of pupils are tightly set, could become a hope for such education.
