Description The paper brings results of the study of dry acidophilous grasslands with patchy occurrence in agriculture landscape in wide surrounding of Třebíč (Czech Republic). Altogether 48 relevés of this vegetation, occupying mainly low convex elevations and steep rocky valley slopes, were sampled at the elevation range 400-500 m a.s.l. Following formalized classification approach introduced in Vegetation of the Czech Republic by Chytrý (2007), these relevés were classified into following 5 associations: Polytricho piliferi-Scleranthetum perennis, Jasiono montanae-Festucetum ovinae, Festuco-Veronicetum dillenii, Potentillo heptaphyllae-Festucetum rupicolae and Viscario vulgaris-Avenuletum pratensis. The main ecological gradients structuring the studied vegetation and correlated with the first and second axis of detrended correspondence analysis are: (1) measured soil pH (correlated positively with soil depth and Ellenberg values for nutrients), and (2) elevation (correlated positively with Ellenberg indicator values for moisture). Remarks on the historical interpretation of acidophilous grassland vegetation, comments on the nature conservation management and notes about rare plant species are included, together with the map of relevé distribution and complete phytosociological table of their species composition.
