| Description | Hypocoristics are pragmatically marked elements of a speech and can be generated in more ways. The theory underlines building hypocoristics through derivation and usually does not mention other possibilities such as compounding or reduplication. The article sketches the range of hypocoristic word formations and focuses Czech hypochorisma build through derivation and seeks for their counterparts in German as they appear in the Czech-German parallel corpus. The outcome of this corpus research shows surprisingly high amount of loan-words in German as counterparts of Czech hypocoristics. |
