Description UN peacekeeping operations are one of the most discussed instruments of conflict resolution. A significant part of them operates in Africa, the place with the largest demand for conflict resolution. Why are some operations successful, while others not? What are the determinants of their success? In her contribution, the author points at the question of evaluating and measurement of the success of UN peacekeeping operations and outlines the framework in which UN peacekeeping operations in Africa operate. In this perspective, the difficult strive of UN peacekeeping operations for success can be understood better.
